eGovernment Self-Study and Training Text

"Implementing and Managing eGovernment: An International Text" by CAPAM member Richard Heeks has recently been published (Sage Publications, 0-7619-6792-3).  It is a self-study text for use by public officials, managers and consultants who wish to take more effective action on e-government.

It also acts as a teaching-support text for in-service training programmes and MPAs, covering course content such as e-government, public information management, government information systems, computers in public administration, etc.

This book's first section draws on international examples to guide readers through crucial e-government management issues such as the management of strategy and projects; data quality; people, money and policies; and dealing with political and ethical challenges. The second section focuses on the implementation of e-government systems. It explores activities such as feasibility studies, analysis and design, risk assessment, system construction, marketing and evaluation.

Features of the book include:

·        case studies drawn from across the globe;

·        instructive diagrams and synoptic models;

·        short activities, questions, and practice-based exercises;

·        a supporting Web site of further materials.
