2006 Awards ThemeThe theme of the 2005-2006 CAPAM International Awards Programme is "Citizen Engagement and Service Delivery." This theme has been selected to elicit examples of innovative practices in providing public services that respond to expressed needs and wishes of citizens, and/or enable enhanced public participation in decisions surrounding service delivery. Information and communication technology (ICT) is a tool that has contributed to many innovative practices in Citizen Engagement and Service Delivery. But public sector leaders are using tried and true channels in innovative ways as well; and governments are partnering with citizen groups to chart new paths in determining and delivering public services. The innovations documented through the 2005-2006 CAPAM International Innovations Awards Programme will contribute to the collected wisdom in the Commonwealth on Citizen Engagement and Service Delivery. For more information on Citizen Engagement and Service Delivery, see Commonwealth Innovations, Volume 11, Number 3 (October 2005), the quarterly CAPAM newsletter for members.
