South Africa 2007 - Building the Academic/Practitioner InterfaceCAPAM and the South African Ministry of Public Service and Administration held an important and exciting seminar in April entitled Building the Academic/Practitioner Interface in South African Public Administration.This event, although focussed on South Africa, was relevant for anyone who has ever discussed the issue of the Academic/Practitioner Interface or for anyone who has an interest in Public Administration. Topics included: Assessing the Quality and Scope of the current interface relationship; Navigating the Continuum in terms of Research, Consultancy, Practising Public Administration and Governance; Navigating the Continuum in terms of Training and Education; Organisational Development and Practising Public Administration. The Seminar presented panels of eminent academics, practitioners and Ministers from South Africa and various Commonwealth nations, and encouraged active participant involvement. The seminar was held over two days at the Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West, near Cape Town, South Africa. Registration included all seminar materials, breaks and lunches, as well as an evening social event hosted by the Government of South Africa.
