THE CONFERENCE GENERAL INFORMATION ACCOMMODATION SPEAKERS

2005 Public-Private Partnerships: Negotiating Relationships, Implementing Agreements and Managing Risk , Tanzania

Date: December 6, 2005

Developed for SADC public sector officials and private sector partners, this four-day seminar covered the spectrum of partnership models and how to choose the best option for public service in a particular context. Sessions focussed on the challenges of public-private partnerships in African public services, and how to address them. Participants developed action plans, learned how to make a business case for PPP, and developed new skills including negotiating with private sector counterparts and performance-based contract management.

A variety of practitioners presented their own experiences and provided lessons learned from case studies and other sources:

Mogopodi Lekorwe, CESPAM
Srinivas Sampath, Commonwealth Secretariat
Juliet R. Kairuki, SADC Banking Council
Magdaline Gabaraane, PEEPA, Botswana
