December 6 to 9, 2005  --  Public-Private Partnerships: Negotiating Relationships, Implementing Agreements and Managing Risk (Arusha, Tanzania)

Developed for SADC public sector officials and private sector partners.

  • The spectrum of partnership models and how to choose the best option for public service in a particular context. 
  • The challenges of public-private partnerships in African public services, and how to address them. 
  • Making a business case for PPP, negotiating with private sector counterparts, and performance-based contract management.

Offered in partnership with the Centre of Specialisation in Public Administration and Management (CESPAM), and with the cooperation of the Commonwealth Secretariat and the Government of Tanzania.

October 4 to 5, 2005
  --  In Pursuit of Excellence: Developing and Maintaining a High Quality Public Service  (New Delhi, India)

Organised by CAPAM in cooperation with the Commonwealth Secretariat.  Co-hosted by the Government of India and the Canada School of Public Service. 

This two-day seminar brought together, for the first time, Heads of Public Service training institutes from across the Commonwealth.  It was a unique opportunity for CEOs and Principals of learning institutes (Management Development Institutes, Schools of Public Service and the like) to exchange experiences, deepen their understanding of strategic training issues, and strengthen their associations for future collaboration and partnerships.

August 1 to 5, 2005 -- Senior Public Executive Seminar (Cape Town, South Africa)

Seventh annual offering of this five-day programme designed for senior public servants and offered in cooperation with the Commonwealth Secretariat and the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

May 9 to 13, 2005  --  Managing Networked Government for Service Delivery (Birmingham, UK)

Offered in partnership with the University of Birmingham, International Development Department, this seminar provided direct exposure to leading edge service delivery as now being practised in governments across the Commonwealth. This joint programme provide opportunities for active learning, by sharing experiences in meeting the challenge of enhancing service delivery in a demanding environment.
