CAPAM recognizes the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Nations’ Harare Commonwealth Declaration
CAPAM recognizes the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Nations’ October 1991 Harare Commonwealth Declaration in Zimbabwe, which laid the groundwork for CAPAM’s genesis. The Declaration pledged, in part, that its members would work with renewed vigour on priority areas such as “democracy, democratic processes and institutions that reflect national circumstances, the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary, just and honest government”. Armed with this clear direction, and with increasing recognition that public service administrators and managers could benefit from frequent information exchange, the late Sir Kenneth Stowe chaired the pan-Commonwealth Steering Committee of founding members that would ultimately lead towards the formation of CAPAM.

CAPAM recognises the passing of Arthur Stevenson on 16 June 2016
CAPAM’s first Executive Director, Arthur Stevenson, passed way on 16 June 2016. Mr Stevenson led the organisation from 1994-2004 and was a galvanising force for inspiring participation in this new collective. We mourn his death and continue to be thankful for his early efforts and commitment.

International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy
Malaysia will be hosting the International Conference on Blue Ocean Strategy at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) in Putrajaya, Malaysia from 16 to 18 August 2016 with the theme, Transforming Nations through Creativity and Innovation.
Held just before the CAPAM 2016 Biennial Conference in the same location, this three-day conference will give an opportunity for participants to share knowledge and ideas of how to inject creativity and innovation in the formulation and implementation of national policies and initiatives.
New Venue, New Date – CAPAM 2016 Biennial Conference in Putrajaya, Malaysia, 18-20 August, 2016
CAPAM is pleased to announce that a new venue for its 2016 Biennial Conference has been confirmed. This premier event will take place in Putrajaya, Malaysia from 18-20 August 2016 under the theme “Innovation: A Public Service Imperative”. CAPAM’s President, Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa, demonstrated leadership and commitment in offering to support the event in Malaysia for a second time.
CAPAM 2016 Biennial Conference Venue Change
CAPAM regretfully announces that Trinidad and Tobago has withdrawn as host country of the CAPAM 2016 Biennial Conference due to economic circumstances beyond their control. As a founding supporter of CAPAM in 1991, Trinidad and Tobago remains strongly committed to CAPAM and its work despite the current challenges.
The CAPAM executive and Board of Directors are considering several options, and are confident that a new partner and venue will be in place imminently. Stay tuned for an announcement on a new location and dates once arrangements have been finalized.

An historic moment – Patricia Scotland to be first woman Secretary-General
27 Nov 2015 - In what has been a true breakthrough for gender equality in the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland of Dominica was elected new Secretary-General - the first woman to hold the post. Malta’s Prime Minister Joseph Muscat made the announcement at a press conference during the Commonwealth summit.
